Can AI answer the custom questions on job applications?

Yes, for anything you've already told it, and it should ask you for the rest. Most applications repeat the same questions (work authorization, sponsorship, notice period, how you heard about the role, voluntary self-identification), so a tool can reuse your answer every time. What it must not do is guess: sponsorship, salary and self-identification answers have to come from you. formdone asks you whenever a form needs something it doesn't know, then remembers your answer, so each question is asked once, not on every application. Open questions like "why do you want to work here" are worth reading before you submit.

The questions that repeat on almost every application

Are you authorized to work in this country? Will you now or in the future require sponsorship? When can you start? What are your salary expectations? How did you hear about us? Voluntary self-identification of gender, ethnicity, veteran and disability status on many US forms. Your answers rarely change between applications, which is exactly why retyping them wastes time.

What a tool should never guess

Work authorization and sponsorship are legal facts about you, and a wrong answer can end an application. Salary is a negotiation you set. Self-identification is voluntary, and "decline to answer" is always a valid choice. A tool should fill these only with an answer you gave it.

Open questions

"Why do you want to work here?" and "Tell us about a project you're proud of" can be drafted by AI, but recruiters notice generic answers. Read it, add one detail about the company, and make it sound like you.

How formdone handles a question it doesn't know

It stops and asks you, in one short question, instead of inventing an answer. Then it remembers what you said and fills that question on every application after.

Frequently asked questions

Is it OK to let AI write my answer to "why do you want to work here"?

Check the application first: some employers ask you to disclose AI use. Greenhouse's guidance for its own candidates calls AI help with a résumé or cover letter "standard practice" and warns that undisclosed use beyond that may disqualify a candidate; each employer sets its own rules. Whatever you send, read it and make it specific.

Will formdone fill the self-identification section?

Only with the answers you give it, including "I don't wish to answer". It never picks one for you.

Is formdone free?

Early access is free. Continue with Google or leave your email, and we'll email you once, when your access is ready.
